BUTTERFLY TROPHIES
The Butterfly Trophies is an annual Isle of Wight ladies’ golf competition played in support of Mountbatten Isle of Wight Hospice. Each year, a different island golf club hosts the event, and women golfers from across the island take part in a friendly but competitive day, traditionally played as a greensomes stableford.

Over the past 30 years, the Butterfly Trophies have raised more than £100,000 for the hospice, making it one of the longest-running and most successful charitable initiatives in Island ladies’ golf.

ISLAND GAMES
After postponement of the previous Island Games, the Guernsey Games are currently scheduled to happen from the 8-14 July 2023. See https://guernsey2023.gg
A couple of weeks ago, IOW Ladies Golf Association Committee (IWLGA) met to discuss the best and fairest way to select the female players for the IOW Golf Team. We agreed on the following:
Each potential team member must meet the following criteria to be selected:
The IWLGA will select the lowest 4 WHS index players (from those who have expressed an interest in being a part of the Team), by the end of October 2022.
You must also :
-
Be a playing member of a golf club

-
Have a valid WHS index that has minimum of 20 entered scores from the inception of WHS in November 2020 through to 30 September 2022. At least 6 scores must be entered between 1 December 2021 through to 30th September 2022 to ensure the current integrity of the index. These can be in addition to the minimum of 20 scores in the WHS or be part of the necessary 20. This is the only way that an accurate indication of playing ability can be determined.

-
Be prepared to pay for the cost of being part of the IOW Golf Team. We will endeavour to fundraise as much as possible, but it should be noted that this may not raise sufficient money. You should budget approx £950.

-
Be prepared to assist with any fund raising opportunities that occur on behalf of the IOW Golf Team where possible.
The IWLGA will work closely with the Island Golf Union who are selecting the Men’s Team and we will fund raise collectively on behalf of the Island Team. I will be representing the IWLGA at these meetings for the time being.
If you would like to be considered to be part of the selection criteria, can you please let me know.
Many thanks. Exciting golfing ahead.
Kate Palfrey
IWLGA Captain.
