IWLGA PRESIDENT'S FROLIC 2025
The Isle of Wight Ladies’ Golf Association commenced their new golfing season at Cowes Golf Club on Monday 17th March with the President’s Frolic.
Association President, Maggie Ankers hosted the event which included the starting of a Bowmaker competition consisting of 69 players in teams of 3.
Taking first place with 39 points were Rose Green (Ryde), Ann Smith (Freshwater Bay) and Jean Priddle (Cowes).
Paula Burke (Freshwater Bay), Tricia Penn (Ryde) and Caroline Warne (Shanklin & Sandown) took second place also with 39 points on count-back. In third position were Gill Fahy (Osborne), Lyn Guy (Shanklin & Sandown) and Elaine White (Newport) who also scored 39 points.

ISA BALLARD ROSE BOWLS
Freshwater Bay Golf Club was the venue for this year’s Isa Ballard Rosebowls competition held on 9th June with 24 pairs taking part.
The winning team were Sue Keen and Di Clark from Freshwater with a score of 38 points. Paula Burke and Jackie Evitts from Freshwater secured second place with 37 points. Sheila Richard and Penny Diez, also from Freshwater took third place on countback with 36 points ahead of Geraldine Parmenter and Brenda Keyte from Shanklin & Sandown.
Isa Ballard’s Granddaughter, Sara Mckie, presented the prizes with Association President Maggie Ankers.

CLIFF DINHAM SALVERS
Newport Golf Club was the venue for this year’s Cliff Dinham Salvers held on 18th August with 28 pairs taking part in the medal foursomes’ competition.
Last year’s winners Louise Webb and Jacky Cook from Westridge Golf Centre retained the trophies with a nett score of 62. Very close behind were the pairing of Maureen Little and Kate Craig from Newport with a nett of 63. In third spot were Joy Jenkins and Sue Thompson from Osborne with a nett 64 and taking fourth place were Di Clark and Sheila Richard from Freshwater Bay with a nett 65 ahead of Sara Weech and Judy Hume from Ryde who also scored 65.

IWLGA VETERAN'S MEETING
Galina Zastava from Ventnor was the winner of this year’s Veteran’s Trophy competition which was held at Cowes Golf Club on Monday 8th September.

Forty-six players took part in the Stableford competition with Galina taking the first spot with a score of 40 points. Brenda Keyte from Shanklin & Sandown was second with 38 points and she won the over 75’s trophy. In third place close behind was Jackie Evitts from Freshwater Bay with 37 points, ahead of Penny Diez from Freshwater Bay with 36 points and Louise Webb from Westridge with 34 points.

PAST AND PRESENT CAPTAINS DAY
OSBORNE GOLF CLUB
MONDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER
Osborne Golf club was the venue for this year’s Past & Present Captains competition held on 15th June with sixteen pairs taking part in very blustery weather conditions.
Joan Dalrymple, the IWLGA Immediate Past Captain hosted the event which included a lunch for all the players.
The winning team were Helen Whittaker and Lorraine Swallow from Westridge with a combined score of 70 points and taking second place were Stephanie Hart and Connie Huntingdon from Shanklin and Sandown with 67 points.
Joan presented the prizes to the winners.

PEMBERTON TROPHIES
Twenty-eight pairs took part in the final competition of the IWLGA golfing calendar. Ryde Golf Club was the venue for the 13-hole Stableford which was played ahead of the Associations AGM on Monday 6th October.
Last year’s winners Lucy Burke and Stephanie Hart from Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club successfully retained the trophies with a score of 24 points. Emma Powell and Rose Green from Ryde were second with 21 points and third spot was taken by Liz Morris and Ann Smith from Freshwater Bay who had the same score but lost out on countback.
IWLGA Captain Marg Kirby presented the prizes with President Maggie Ankers.
